After focusing on making EPs for the past few years, Ringo Starr has surprised everyone with the announcement of his first full-length project since 2019’s What’s My Name, and it’s none other than a country album. Named Look Up, it's not actually his first sojourn into country music; that would be the 1970s album Beaucoups Of Blues, recorded in Nashville.
Look Up is produced and co-written by T-Bone Burnett, and features a list of iconic bluegrass and Americana artists such as Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Alison Krauss. The lead single “Time On My Hands” is co-written by Paul Kennerly and Daniel Tashian.
The 84-year-old Beatle talked about how the album idea came up when he met Burnett:
"I was making EPs through the pandemic, and I met you at this hotel. You came over to the house and you've got a few songs, so I said 'How many songs you got' and you go 'nine!', so I went 'We'll make a regular CD!'"
Recently, a new documentary on The Beatles' first visit to America was announced.
