Redman recently clarified that while he and Method Man remain tight, they don’t hang out outside of work.
Speaking on the Julian Dorey Podcast, the New Jersey MC didn’t hesitate when asked if they still kick it off the clock, responding with a firm “Hell no!” Despite that, he assured fans that their bond is still strong and that he would like to eventually do Blackout! 3.
We do shows and we come back home. I don’t hang out with a lot of rappers at all. This is work, this is home. We’re very inclusive with our movement. Once we’re off the road, we’re like, ‘Alright. You got family to deal with, I got shit I gotta do.’ My circle is very small. So we all have different lives. I don’t hang out with rappers. I might call.
There’s a lot of MCs who I’m connected with. Of course Wu is my crew or whatever, but there’s a lot of artists that we might chop it up on the phone – but no. The only artists I hang out with is my boy DoItAll from Lords of The Underground and Treach if I see him in the hood and that’s about it. And Kid Capri. Kid Capri is my big bro. I talk to him and go see him all the time. But he’s not a rapper though. He’s a DJ. One of the best.
Redman and Method Man's chemistry has always translated into success. Their 1999 debut Blackout! hit #3 on the Billboard 200, and a decade later, Blackout! 2 followed suit, landing in the top 10.
In a 2014 interview, both Redman and Method Man said the third installment of the Blackout series was coming in the following months, however, that never happened. Both have moved into other ventures, with Method Man mainly moving into acting at the time.
Despite not hanging out offstage, their collaborative energy remains undeniable. Earlier this year the pair teased Blackout! 3 was in the works, only time will tell when the third installment will see release.
