Ray Vaughn fires diss at Joey Bada$$ with “Crashout Heritage”

The rap feud is becoming the rap relay race, as new participants step up to the pitch; this time it’s Ray Vaughn. The Long Beach rapper signed to Top Dawg Entertainment threw on the gloves this morning when he released “Crashout Heritage,” a freestyle sampling Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part. 6,”  and aimed it at Brooklyn rapper, Joey Bada$$.

Released on YouTube, Vaughn shared a clip on Twitter tagging Bada$$ with the caption, “2025 no sneak dissin, only crashouts.”

This track is a direct response to “The Ruler’s Back,” a freestyle Bada$$ released on January 1. The song criticizes West Coast hip hop and the praise it has received in the wake of the feud between Lamar and Drake across 2024. “I got murals in my city, f**ck a nomination / This for every time they left me out the conversation…Too much West Coast d**k lickin’ / ‘Cause if we talkin’ bar-for-bar, really it’s slim pickings.”

Vaughn denounced Bada$$ for the surprise freestyle, “What’s with the sneak dissin’? Takin’ shots at us, then hide the Uzi / ‘Cause the only badass the world was recogniz’ is Boosie…Please don’t get confused with shootin’ the movies, we really shootin’ / Was on Soul album, so if you ask me, you look like a goofy.”

Additionally, Vaughn also takes a few swings at Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, calling him out for recording verses from prison about Megan Thee Stallion: “And Tory you should be ashamed of yourself / ‘Cause DDG needed to sell, you did a verse from a cell… You loyal to rappers in your early days you beefed with as well / If ain’t no friendlies in the 6, then we gon’blick you as well.”

Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot at a party in 2020. Despite dissing him, Vaughn seems to side with Lanez in regard to the shooting conviction, “Don’t think you shot her, I was prayin’ for your freedom as well.”

It’s not all blood in the water, though. Across the track, Vaughn does his share to uplift the LA hip hop community, “We raised Pac, Dre and Nip, that’s a heavenly trinity / And all we had was DJ Hed to back us in the industry / They talkin’ reckless, that’s a deathwish signed in blood / B***h, this L.A. country,  we baptize goofies in the mud.”

Okay, maybe a little blood…
