Rapper, producer, and political activist Ghais Guevara has today announced his signing to Fat Possum Records together with a new single "Leprosy" that trails his eagerly anticipated official debut album.
The prolific Philadelphia-based artist has self-released a huge amount of material over the past four years, from 2020's May Ur Melanin Shield U From Ragnarok through to last summer's Goyard Comin': Exordium, but has been relatively restrained lately. Hinting at his new deal with Fat Possum back in June, Guevara tweeted "yall gotta stop demandin music from me, im not independent anymore, i cant do what i want!"

Written and produced by Guevara, with engineering assistance from CITYSPROBLEM, "Leprosy" is a typically dense and witty offering from the outspoken rapper. Says Guevara in a press release:
"This song was inspired by multiple nights in NYC following shows. The main character moments. The glow in her eyes and the haze in yours. You’re not on speaking terms with any of them now. There’s a lesson in humility somewhere in there if you search for it."

Guevara has just one show on the books for now, supporting Fat Possum label mate ELUCID at Philadelphia venue Kung Fu Necktie on 17 January. Tickets are available here.
