Radiohead have been rehearsing together, “just to play the old songs”

In an interview to promote his new photography book How To Disappear: A Photographic Portrait Of Radiohead (out 15 October via John Murray Press), Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood revealed that the band reconvened for a rehearsal “about two months ago in London, just to play the old songs.”

Appearing via video call at the Hay Festival in Querétaro, Mexico on Sunday (8 September), Greenwood spoke with Mexican musician and graphic artist Javier ‘El Cha’ Ramírez and answered questions from fans for roughly an hour – about his photography, the band, and what the future might hold. While it doesn’t seem that there will be a follow-up to 2016's A Moon Shaped Pool any time soon, Greenwood did say that the rehearsal was “really fun” and that he “had a really good time.” You can watch the whole thing here.

Speaking to The Guardian earlier this year, Greenwood’s brother Jonny confirmed that Radiohead were “still talking all the time,” and just needed to “make a plan and get some time together sorted out in advance” to work on new music. In the meantime, there’s a new album from The Smile out on 4 October, and a new solo album on the way from Ed O’Brien, while drummer Philip Selway continues to tour as a member of Lanterns on the Lake as well as working on his own music.

As for Colin Greenwood? Besides the book release, he’ll be out on tour with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds through the end of November, standing in for their regular bassist Martyn Casey who can’t make the tour due to illness. Full list of those dates below:
