American music and film/television industry titan Quincy Jones has passed away at the age of 91.
Known for producing Michael Jackson's Thriller and collaborating with fellow musical icons Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles, Jones reportedly passed away in Los Angeles's Bel Air neighborhood surrounded by family members according to Jones's publicist Arnold Robinson.
Jones's legacy includes one Emmy, 28 Grammys, one Academy Award, and a Grammy Legend Award – he was one of fifteen people to receive this award. He also received France’s Legion d’Honneur, the Rudolph Valentino Award from the Republic of Italy and a Kennedy Center tribute for his contributions to American culture. Jones was also a prolific film music composer, including such heavy hitters as 1967's In the Heat of the Night and 1985's The Color Purple.
Jones is survived by his seven children, including actress Rashida Jones.
