Prince Daddy & The Hyena, the Albany emo outfit with a pop-punk edge, return with a new single, “4-03-04_Birthday_B4”, a title that looks like it was pulled straight off a LimeWire download screen. The track arrives ahead of their upcoming album Hotwire Trip Switch, due out April 17 via Counter Intuitive Records.

The single, which also opens the album, sets the tone for a record that is intentionally pieced together as a collection of standalone hits. With lyrics like “all i want for my birthday’s to be left alone if your feeling generous, give me a week,” the band lean into the witty, self-loathing (but still fun) perspective that’s become a defining trait of a classic Prince Daddy track.
