Porridge Radio are breaking up

After forming in Brighton, England 10 years ago, Porridge Radio have just announced that they will be disbanding. The band’s final release, The Machine Starts To Sing EP is out on February 21 via Secretly Canadian. They have shared one of the EP’s songs, titled “Don’t Want To Dance”, in the meantime.

“This is the last new music from Porridge Radio and marks the end of the band. The songs on this EP are an important part of Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me, and mean a lot to us,” frontwoman Dana Margolin said. “We are excited for you to hear them. This band has been our life, we’re family now. These tours will be our last. Thanks so much for listening.”

Porridge Radio was founded in 2015 by Margolin, keyboardist Georgie Stott, drummer Sam Yardley, and bassist Maddie Ryall, with Ryall leaving the band in 2023. Their second album Every Bad was nominated for the 2020 Mercury Prize.

The Machine Starts To Sing EP will feature four tracks and was produced by Dom Monks, who produced Porridge Radio’s fourth album Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me, which came out in October of last year. He has also worked as an engineer and producer for Laura Marling and Big Thief.

Before disbanding, the band is heading out on one final tour of North America and Europe. The tour starts next week on January 23 in Washington, DC, and will end on May 10 in Bucharest, Romania. Tickets are on sale now.
