Pixies share new song “Oyster Beds”, lyrically inspired by Black Francis’s paintings

Following last month’s lead single “Chicken”, Pixies have shared a second song from their upcoming tenth album, The Night the Zombies Came, due 25 October via BMG.

Described by Pixies leader Black Francis as being “a laundry list” of things that he's been painting since taking up his brushes again during the recording sessions in Wales, the lyrics to "Oyster Beds" include such visions as “a faithful spouse with open blouse” and the less rhyme-y “paganeer-cum-sacred cow.”

Currently nearing the end of an extensive European tour, the alt. rock icons have a handful of dates left before heading to Australia and New Zealand in November. They play London's All Points East festival tonight.
