Pitchfork to add comments section & reader scores in 2026

The music tastemakers at Pitchfork are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2026, and they've announced a pair of new features to arrive next year: comments and scores from readers.

After three decades of activity, Pitchfork plan to allow reader comments on all of their 30,000-plus music reviews. In addition, the peanut gallery can provide their own scores, based on the classic 0.0-10.0 scale. Every commenter rating will be aggregated, and combine to form a "reader score" displayed next to the Pitchfork score.

Pitchfork is engaged in beta testing of these features with 500 readers, and will provide updates after the testing period is complete.
