Following a path through indie-funk and eclectic genre mutation, Oklahoma artist PawPaw Rod has released "The Get Back", a return to hip-hop. Rod describes the song as a "personal charger," a musical talisman to come back to for any much-needed re-centering.
The single "feels spiritual to me," Rod says. "It's like my ancestors singing through the song."
Featuring production from Two Fresh, "The Get Back" is sanded with gained perspective — a perspective shaped by genre-bending festival appearances, tours alongside various acts (The Flaming Lips, Still Woozy, etc.) and collaborations with brands including Nike and Apple. Following these milestones, this rap cut sees Rod completing a "Get Back" to his roots.
