Paste announce new EP 'Thanks, Roy', release lead single "Ready For A Reason"

Toronto's power-pop quintet Paste are making their return with a brand new EP, Thanks, Roy. The group also revealed "Ready For A Reason", the lead single off the project.

Thanks, Roy was recorded in small-town Ontario alongside Juno-nominated producer Jon Savard, and you can hear it April 17.

Listen to the new song below:

"Ready for a Reason" has a high energy that is at odds with the subject matter of its narrative. Dylan Taylor, the band's frontperson, elaborates: “If you’re going to write a miserable song, you might as well be able to dance to it.”

The EP's namesake Roy was the property manager of the band's studio and rehearsal space. This release pays tribute to Roy and the memories he left behind. Taylor had this to say about the impact the late property manager had on the band:

“Roy was a character in the best way. In a city where creative spaces are disappearing, he went to bat for us. Without him, we wouldn’t have been able to write and rehearse these songs.”

Paste is the latest project from songwriter Dylan Taylor as well as Toronto scene veterans Kieran Douglas, Meagan Aversa, Ryan McNeill, and Taylor Mallo.
