Oneohtrix Point Never announces new album; shares three new songs

Producer and experimental electronic trailblazer Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, earlier today announced the release of his latest studio album, Tranquilizer. This new album – out November 17 on Warp – follows his last project, 2023's Again, marking his 19th studio release under the OPN moniker. He's run his sound through a myriad of styles, including vaporwave, ambient, glitch, and plunderphonic, but this time Daniel is switching things up yet again.

This new album arose from him finding that archives of 90s sample CDs vanished from the internet. This newfound inspiration of nostalgic production impelled him to make a relatively fast follow-up to his last album. Lopatin comments:

“It’s a record shaped by commercial audio construction kits from a bygone era— an index of cliches turned inside out. It is a return to a process-oriented form of music making for me that I felt best evoked a certain kind of madness and ennui in the heart of culture today.”

In addition, Oneohotrix Point Never released an EP earlier today, tra, which contains the first three tracks from the latest project: "For Residue", "Bumpy", and "Lifeworld", the latter of the three containing a video directed by Lopatin himself.

Lopatin also recently scored the new film from Josh Safdie, Marty Supreme, starring Timothee Chalamet – out December 25.
