NYC Ferry celebrates 50 years of Ramones with themed rides

On August 16, 1974, punk rock pioneers Ramones debuted at Manhattan's now-defunct legendary CBGB music club. 50 years later, fans of the band will be able to commemorate its legacy with NYC Ferry's selected Ramones-themed rides on Friday (August 16) and Saturday (August 17).

The three Ramones-themed vessels leave from Wall Street/ Pier 11, Sunset Park, and Rockaway. The experience promises a complete "Ramones takeover", including blasting the iconic "Rockaway Beach" when the vessel departs, and various goodies such as anniversary stickers, free samples of Rockaway Soda, and a raffle for an exclusive Ramones prize pack for riders.

Rockaway Beach Bakery also offers limited edition 'Ra-scones' and 'Now I Wanna Sip Some (Cold) Brew' for beachgoers.

Notably, the NYC Ferry's partnership with famed artists or cultural phenomena isn't new. In the past, the Ferry has collaborated with global icons such as Taylor Swift promoting her 2023 re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor's Version). Similarly, the Ramones experience is a partnership between Rhino Entertainment & Warner Music Group to advertise Spotify's "This Is Ramones" Playlist.

On August 16, 1974, New York City’s punk music scene took form as Queens-born band Ramones played their first show at CBGB. Soon after, hits like “Rockaway Beach” and “Blitzkreig Bop” brought these Forest Hills-born rockers to the mainstream, and the rest– as they say– is history. To celebrate this 50-year milestone of New York
