No Doubt’s Tom Dumont shares Parkinson’s diagnosis ahead of Vegas residency

In a video shared from home, No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont revealed that he was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease several years ago. There was no spectacle to it, just a calm, reflective tone that carried the weight of what he’s been dealing with.

“I went to my doctor, I went to a neurologist, did a whole bunch of tests, and I was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease,” he recalled in the recent upload. “It’s been a struggle. It’s a struggle every day.”

Still, Dumont wasn’t there to dwell in the dark. If anything, the message leaned toward resilience. With the band gearing up for their upcoming Las Vegas residency at Sphere, he pointed to what he called “the good news,” the part that matters most to someone who’s spent decades tethered to the stage lights: “I can still play music. I can still play guitar. I’ve been doing really well.”

Dumont also opened up about why now felt like the right time to speak:

“I’ve just been very inspired by other people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media, and that sort of thing. I think it helps erase some of the stigma, and it raises awareness obviously. And awareness is really important for prevention and for research.”

Later in the video, his tone shifts, as he talks about getting ready for the residency alongside Gwen Stefani, Adrian Young, and Tony Kanal. For a band that’s been in and out of orbit since forming in 1986, these moments of reunion seem to hit differently now.

“Looking through old footage and looking at old photographs and relearning old songs and rehearsing … it’s kind of made me think about how grateful I am for the life I’ve gotten to lead as a musician all these years,” he said.

Dumont wrapped things up simply, the way he started:

“I’m really excited about the shows, can’t wait to see everybody.”

The response from his bandmates came quickly:

“My friend, bandmate, and hero, I love you brother,” Young wrote.

“Love you beyond words my friend. Can’t wait to get on stage with you again,” Kanal added.

And longtime collaborator Gabrial McNair chimed in with his own energy: “You are such a beautiful soul, Tom!! I love you so much and can’t wait get on stage with you!! LFG!!”

It’s easy to forget how long this band has been part of the cultural fabric, decades of breakups, reunions, solo detours (especially for Stefani), and still, they keep finding their way back to each other. Their most recent return was for Coachella 2024 after nearly ten years apart, followed by a set at the FireAid LA benefit concert.
