Nine Inch Nails & Foo Fighters swap drummers

Out of nowhere, two of the biggest names in contemporary rock – Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails – have traded drummers. That means Ilan Rubin is heading to Dave Grohl's enterprise, while Josh Freese is, once again, joining the Nails.

Freese confirmed his excitement in a statement posted to his Instagram, while NIN shared an Instagram story with a photo of the drummer, along with the caption "LET'S FUCKING GO."

Freese was a member of Trent Reznor's clan until 2008, when he left to spend more time with his family. "NIN was a band that left me walking off stage every single night thinking, 'That was incredible. We absolutely crushed it,'" Freese's statement reads in part.

While Rubin and the Foo Fighters crew have been quieter in the wake of the news, the internet's peanut gallery has found amusement in Rubin (who joined NIN after Freese left) joining the Foos after Freese got the boot. Take a look at this hilarious graphic from our friends at Consequence:

Nine Inch Nails are in the midst of their Peel It Back tour; tickets here.
