Nick Cave told AI to “Fuck off,” but now he’s cool with it for new “Tupelo” video

Nick Cave has made his feelings about AI very clear over the years — namely, that he’s not a fan. He’s previously called AI “unbelievably disturbing” and told ChatGPT to “fuck off and leave songwriting alone.”

So it’s understandably surprising to see his band, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, release an AI-generated music video to mark the 40th anniversary of their song “Tupelo”.

The video, from filmmaker Andrew Dominik, was created using AI, and reimagines the life of Elvis Presley, the song’s central subject. “Tupelo” tells the story of Presley’s birth during a violent storm in Mississippi. It's an unnerving watch, to say the least... Check it out here:
