Today, Netflix announced and premiered a new trailer for a forthcoming documentary about the late Swedish DJ and electronic producer, Avicii.
The film, titled Avicii-I'm Tim, covers Avicii's journey, from his beginnings as a producer, career highlights, and an array of interviews with his past collaborators, including Chris Martin, Aloe Blacc, and David Guetta. The documentary also includes narration from the artist with various archival visuals and audio.
In a press release statement from Netflix,
This is the unlikely story of Tim Bergling, a shy and insecure boy who, without realizing it, suddenly created one of the world's most loved artists - Avicii.
Through unique home movies and a huge private archive, we get to follow Tim on a winding journey through life - from the very first breath at the maternity ward in Stockholm in 1989 to the tragic end in Oman in 2018. This is a film where Tim himself is the narrator and he shares his inner self in a way we haven't heard before. Through himself and everyone close to him - family, artist colleagues and best friends - we get to know Tim - the boy behind Avicii - for the first time.
Born Tim Bergling, Avicii got his start in producing EDM around the late 2000s, eventually seeing commercial stardom in the early 2010s with chart-topping singles like "Wake Me Up" and "Levels". Bergling died at age 28 in April 2018 and his memory remains strong within the electronic community. The following year, Avicii's posthumous album, Tim, was released to the public, with proceeds from the record going towards the Tim Bergling Foundation for mental health awareness.
The documentary, Avicii-I'm Tim, premieres on Netflix on December 31st.
