Kassie Krut –a new band comprised of Kasra Kurt, Eve Alpert (of defunct Philly noise-pop outfit Palm), and Matt Anderegg (of Mothers and Body Meat) – have released their debut single "Reckless" today via Fire Talk Records.
Watch the video below:
"Reckless" is a clinking, clattering affair centered around a pouncing beat and deep droney bass tones. All this functional discord is underpinned by Kurt's cheerleader-chant vocals, buoying it up to a fun and flippant pop sensibility. Kassie Krut seem to operate same wavelength as Water From Your Eyes, Empath and Jockstrap – an alliance of pop and chromatic weirdness.
In the wake of Palm splitting up in 2023 – with the third, Anderegg-produced LP Nicks and Grazes being the band's final release – Kassie Krut started as a haphazard solo project of Kasra Kurt. But these things have a way of getting out of hand. Trading Philadelphia for New York, Kurt – alongside Alpert and Anderegg – began to flesh the project as a heady trio.
No live shows are announced as of yet, but it's safe to assume we'll be hearing more material soon.
