Björk has recently announced "Nature Manifesto", an immersive piece that combines the sounds of endangered and extinct animals with the singer's voice. It's a multi-floor exhibit that will run from November 20 to December 9, 2024 at the Centre Pompidou, Paris as part of the “Biodiversity: Which culture for which future?” forum.
Co-written by her partner Aleph Molinari and co-produced by IRCAM, the installation aims to provide animals a voice in an environment away from nature. AI software was also used in the piece, though details are scant as to how it was implemented. For now, it's only evident in the announcement video Björk posted to X.
The singer also wrote the following on X.
it is an emergency
the apocalypse has already happened
and how we will act now is essential
in pioneering sound-strata
with mutant peacocks, bees, and lemurs
biology will reassemble in new ways
and micro-organisms will mate with other life-forms
to heal and adapt
in fruiting bodies
and fields of sensory information
the web of life will unfold into a world of new solutions
