Netflix announces new docu-series about Michael Jackson's infamous 2003 trial

While the sanitized Hollywood biopic Michael became the second-highest grossing film of 2026 so far, it overlooked many aspects of Michael Jackson's troubled life. Netflix is now pulling the curtain back on the King of Pop's infamous 2003 trial for multiple counts of child molestation.

Directed by Nick Green and executive produced by Fiona Stourton, Michael Jackson: The Verdict takes an in-depth look into the 15-time Grammy winner's multiple child molestation allegations and the eventual not guilty verdict, which polarized the world and allowed Jackson to live the rest of his life as a free man.

The documentary features interviews with several jurors from his trial and includes a look at child star Macaulay Culkin, who has always denied that Jackson committed any wrongdoing.

The singer has been back in the spotlight in part due to the release of Antoine Fuqua's big-budget biopic starring Jackson's real-life nephew Jafaar. The film chronicles Jackson's early days with the Jackson 5 through his Bad tour in 1988.

The filmmakers state:

“It has been 20 years since the trial of Michael Jackson in which he was found not guilty. Yet, to this day, controversy still rages. No cameras were allowed in court, and so the public’s view of the facts at the time were filtered by commentators and presented piecemeal. It was time to take a forensic look at the trial as a whole. Anyone interested in the Michael Jackson story should feel this documentary gives them a window into what was largely a closed event and a chance to feel closer to what happened.”
