Neil Young Sues Trump For $10M

In 2020, the legendary Neil Young sued Donald Trump for using "Rockin' in the Free World" as Trump's entrance music at his rallies, and they settled out of court. But the president has never met a legal restriction he couldn't flout, and his PAC, Trump 47 Committee Inc., has continued to use the song.

According to a Rolling Stone report, Young is now suing the political action committee for violating the settlement, to the tune of $10M, in a copyright infringement filing in Virginia where the PAC is based.

Young's lawyers specifically cite Trump using the song as walk-on music at an Ohio rally on October 12. The singer has historically not fucked around regarding injustices in Ohio. They also made sure to note in the five-page court filing that "Rockin' in the Free World" is "the opposite of everything that Donald J. Trump stands for." Duh.

In other news that intersects politics and the music of Neil Young, Wednesday's Karly Hartzman performed his song "Barstool Blues" at a rally campaigning for Senate hopeful Roy Cooper (D-NC). Watch that performance below.
