Neil Young cancels European tour, Alanis Morissette swaps in for inaugural State Fayre festival

Neil Young has canceled his UK/European tour.

The Canadian-American folk rock lifer had lined up a run of big open-air dates across the UK: Cornwall’s Eden Sessions on June 17, Manchester’s Heaton Park on June 19, a headline slot at the very first State Fayre Festival in Chelmsford on June 27.

From there, it was north to Glasgow Summer Sessions at Bellahouston Park June 29, then Blenheim Palace in Oxford July 3 and Cardiff’s Blackweir Fields July 5. After that, the tour would snake through Europe, concluding in Udine, Italy on July 26.

But that’s not how it’s playing out.

In a message posted to the Neil Young Archives, Young confirmed he’s pulling the plug on the European run. “I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time,” he wrote. “Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well.”

Ticket holders will be contacted directly and issued full refunds.

Meanwhile, the inaugural State Fayre is pressing on. Organizers have confirmed that, instead, Alanis Morissette will headline the Saturday night of the 2026 edition at Hylands Park, Chelmsford June 26–28, joined by Kings of Leon, Skunk Anansie and The Lumineers.
