Neil Peart’s 1965 Maserati Mistral up for auction

Rush have a hurricane of new energy in their sails these days, but it's still a surprise to see one of the classic cars owned by late Rush drummer Neil Peart surface for auction. His 1965 Maserati Mistral is live now on car auction site Bring a Trailer.

Peart cultivated a collection of sporting machines from the '60s, almost all in silver and dubbed "Silver Surfers," in the later years of his life. The vehicular array, which also included an Aston Martin DB5 fitting for James Bond and a Lamborghini Miura, is the subject of a posthumous book by Peart.

The Mistral was refinished in silver following Peart's acquisition to fit the theme of the collection. Another of Peart's cars that wasn't in the "Silver Surfers" stable, a 2010 Aston Martin DBS, sold on Bring a Trailer in 2024 for almost $140,000; all of the Silver Surfers went up for auction through Gooding & Co. in 2021.

With four days left, the current bid is $151,000, if you’re feeling flush. Though maybe Rush fans should save up and look for a Red Barchetta instead...
