Nadia Reid returns with fourth album 'Enter Now Brightness', releases new single

Last month, New Zealand singer-songwriter Nadia Reid released her first new song in four years, "Changed Unchained". Now, Reid has officially announced her fourth full-length record, Enter Now Brightness, out February 7 via Chrysalis Records.

Reid has also released the album's first official single, "Baby Bright", with a video directed by Sunbed. Listen/watch below:

Produced with Tom Healy and recorded in New Zealand, Enter Now Brightness was the first time Reid had gone into a recording project without a slate of finished songs. According to a press release:

"There were half-songs and sketches and lyrics untethered from music. 'There was a revelation of: it doesn’t have to be finished, it doesn’t have to be a perfect song before it’s taken to the band,' [Reid says]. The results find Reid moving ever further from her earlier folk inclinations, establishing a sound that is distinctly her own."

Going further, Reid says

“I think for me, becoming a mother brought all of [the issues of] the inner child and all of my own mothering right back up to the surface ... A lot of women say that when they’ve had babies they’ve said to their own mums ‘Thank you so much!’ because they have this revelation of what their mother’s sacrificed for them. And I guess I had that in a different way ... The most useful thing to do with pain and joy and thoughts and feelings and anger ... I’m so much better off now that it exists,” she says."

Enter Now Brightness is out February 7. You can preorder it here.
