Icelandic electro-acoustic experimental pop auteurs múm are back with their first album in 12 years. History of Silence, the followup to 2013's Smilewound, is out September 19 via Morr Music.
With the news comes first single "Mild at Heart". Check out the video – shot and edited by Sigurlaug Gísladóttir – below:
According to a fittingly múm-ish press release, the new album offers "a collection of bold and colorful songs" that "tickle like a feather drifting through the wind, ending up in unexpected places, stimulating long-forgotten thoughts and feelings, intimate moments of introspection."
Indeed!
While work on the album was initiated southern Italy, additional recordings were made in Reykjavík, Berlin, Athens, Helsinki, New York, and Prague.
The group will also be heading out on tour in September and October across the US and Canada, marking their first full North American tour (following a couple US festival appearances and a New York show this spring) since before the COVID pandemic. Find those dates below.
