The Tampa Bay Police have announced three arrests for the June murder of Foolio, with two more suspects still wanted.
On Monday, July 29th, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw, Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez, and Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters held a joint press conference to provide updates on the case. Isaiah Chance, Alicia Andrews, and Sean Gathright were arrested in Jacksonville over the weekend and charged with murder. Gathright and the two wanted suspects allegedly fired the fatal shots at Foolio, born Charles Jones, on the night he was killed.
Police revealed that Chance and Andrews tracked and followed Foolio and his entourage to two locations before the murder. At each stop, Chance used a cell phone to coordinate with a second vehicle. Both vehicles then followed Foolio to the Home 2 Suites on McKinley Drive, where the murder took place.
All individuals involved in the shooting are affiliated with Jacksonville gangs ATK and 1200, which are rivals to Foolio's associated gang, 6 Block. This feud has spanned over a decade, resulting in dozens of murders on both sides.
Gathright, along with the two wanted suspects, Rashad Murphy and Davion Murphy, fired shots at Foolio that night. According to police Rashad and Davion Murphy are affiliated with 1200 and Chance is known to be an ATK member.
Chief Bercaw started:
These individuals took extreme measures to try and cover their actions but they were no match for our investigators.
Detectives believe that ATK and 1200 worked together to target Jones as part of an ongoing feud in Jacksonville.
Surveillance footage showed the suspects in the Holiday Inn parking lot, where they ambushed Foolio's car, leading to his death.
Foolio was shot and killed on June 23 while celebrating his 26th birthday in Tampa. Three others in the car were injured but survived. Two days after the murder, Chief Bercaw guaranteed arrests, working with multiple law enforcement agencies to track the suspects using license plate information.
