Country singer Morgan Wallen was already under fire this week for abruptly walking off stage during the goodnight segment of this week's Saturday Night Live. Now Page Six reports that when asked to provide a cameo for a pretaped sketch, Wallen turned it down. Thankfully, they had a Jonas brother on retainer.
In "Big Dumb Line," host Mikey Madison was joined by cast members Bowen Yang, Sarah Sherman, Ego Nwodim, Chloe Fineman for an upbeat song about waiting in long lines for viral tiktok products. The bridge takes a country turn, where... Joe Jonas steps in.
According to Page Six, Wallen "did what he was asked" by fulfilling his musical guest duties, and that showing up in a sketch would apparently be a bridge too far.
Wallen was set to perform on SNL in 2020 before being dropped at the last minute when video surfaced of him enjoying some maskless mid-pandemic partying. Jack White was able to substitute. The country singer got a second chance in December of that year, even poking fun at himself in a sketch.
Since then, Wallen has been in hot water for using the n-word and throwing a chair off a building. Even through all of that, he once again found himself on the SNL stage, and with any luck he's halfway to God's country by now.
