Singer-songwriter Mirah has been pretty quiet since her last LP, 2018's Understanding. In the interim, she's released a 20th anniversary edition – replete with covers of the whole thing – of her debut record, You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This, and she's also kept a pretty consistent touring schedule.
But now, she has released her first new single in seven years. "Catch My Breath" is out now via Double Double Whammy and her own imprint Absolute Magnitude. Listen below:
The new track features Jenn Wasner of Flock of Dimes and Wye Oak, Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, and Andrew Maguire.
Mirah says of the song:
"When this song first came out it had a sonically pensive aura. I could tell it was a keeper, but I wanted to try some different presentations, play with it a little. Could the wound spring of questioning and longing and relationship anxiety sound bombastic, or fun, or like an 80's pop song? That's what we went for in the studio, and with Jenn, Meg, and Andrew Maguire in there with me it really just took off. I love how the song expressed its malleability to me and then took so well to the treatment."
Mirah has six dates currently on the slate. Five of them are being done with Undertow Shows (who she's worked with before), which sets up small private venue concerts such as living room shows. Find all dates below, and find tickets/info for the Undertow Shows here.
No further news of future releases has yet been made available, or if this new song will end up on an upcoming project.
