Melvins and Napalm Death members form collaborative band, announce album

The Melvins and Napalm Death, two icons of countercultural metal, are aligning to form a full-bore band, Savage Imperial Death March. Their album of the same name will come out on April 10th, through Ipecac Recordings.

This album saw an ultra-limited release on the pair’s 2025 tour; this new, widely-available iteration features two new songs, "Awful Handwriting" and "Comparison Is the Thief of Joy".

They've released the first cut from the project, "Tossing Coins Into the Fountain of Fuck", which you can listen to below.

The pair have toured together, using the name of the album, in 2016 and last year. "Napalm Death are one of my favorite bands ever," Melvins founder Buzz Osborne said in a press release. "It was an absolute pleasure and a dream come true to do this collaboration with them." The lineup features Osborne, Melvins drummer Dale Crover, and Napalm Death's Barney Greenway, Shane Embury, and John Cooke.

"I have loved the Melvins forever and their outlook on music," Embury enthuses. "A chance to make an album of eclectic musical madness with them was truly an honor."
