Megadeth are going out on a high note as the band's final album exploded onto the charts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — a first for the thrash metal heavyweights led by metal legend Dave Mustaine.
The band's self-titled album also claimed the top spot in Australia and Austria, with other notable positions including No. 2 in Finland, Sweden, and Belgium; No. 3 in Germany; No. 4 in the Netherlands; and No. 5 in Italy and New Zealand.
Vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, and producer Dave Mustaine commented on his band's big achievement:
“After 40 years of delivering Megadeth music, playing shows around the world, I have nothing but gratitude at this moment. Finding out that our last Megadeth record is also our first #1 only further validates my will to go out on top. Thank you to my family, Teemu Mantasaari, James LoMenzo, and Dirk Verbueren, and Chris Rakestraw, all our fans for making this possible, without you Megadeth would not be as successful as we are. I’d also like to thank the people behind the scenes, our management, Danny Nozell, Justis Mustaine, and Steve Ross at CTK, and our label BLKIIBLK/Tradecraft.”

Coming up next for Megadeth, Mustaine and company kick off their farewell tour in North America with a cross-country headlining tour of Canada, launching on February 15 in Victoria, British Columbia, and including stops in Calgary, Winnipeg, and Ottawa, before wrapping up on March 6 in Quebec City, Quebec.
