Earlier today, Decibel Magazine announced that the 12th iteration of its North American tour series will feature its "boldest line-up ever." The infamous black metal group Mayhem will headline while Mortiis, Imperial Triumphant, and New Skeletal Faces fill out the undercard.
The announcement comes a month after Mayhem canceled their 40th Anniversary Tour in North America via Instagram post due to a band member "having a medical emergency that requires immediate surgery, which will result in a prolonged recovery period." It was not made public which member needed surgery, and no details about their recovery have been provided at the time of writing.
However, the group played their 40th-anniversary set, which included songs dating as far back as their first EP, Deathcrush, across a small string of European dates this past month. They'll take the performance to Australia and Taiwan in early 2025.
As for the Decibel Magazine Tour's supporting line-up, fans will be treated to an eclectic mix of styles. Mortiis is recognized as one of the most important artists in dungeon synth and has returned to it after stints playing synth-pop and industrial rock. Meanwhile, Imperial Triumphant have garnered acclaim for their sophisticated blend of jazz, black metal, death metal, and art deco.
Lastly, goths will feel at home with New Skeletal Faces' deathrock. The California group channels Siouxsie and the Banshees as much as they do 80s heavy metal. Imagine if Lamp of Murmuur replaced some of the black metal on Submission and Slavery with W.A.S.P.'s energy and you're not far off.
Tickets for the Decibel Magazine Tour go on sale this Friday, December 20, at 10:00 am local time. You can find the tickets for each location at the link below.
