Robert Del Naja, co-founder of the legendary UK band Massive Attack, is not remaining silent when it comes to protesting the ongoing conflict happening in Palestine. In addition to publicly appearing through demonstrations and rallies, as well as emphasizing their clear message of international support at Massive Attack concerts, Del Naja is contributing new music for an upcoming documentary covering two years of genocide in Gaza, titled Life Support.
The soundtrack for the film released earlier today, October 28, includes three originals from Del Naja, under the "3D" moniker, and one remix of the Kneecap track, "Palestine (feat. Fwazi)," which was featured on their last album. The original compositions – “Explosives of the Future,” “Perfect Victims,” and “House of Healing” – are all featured on the thirteen-track album. The soundtrack is also available for physical purchase, with all proceeds going to the Health Workers 4 Palestine solidarity fund.
In a recent statement about the album, Del Naja says:
“Given the magnitude and rawness of Life Support, it was humbling to be asked to compose work that could in some way enhance a second-hand experience of living the devastating realities for volunteer medics and Gazan civilians. We hope the range of compositions go some way to travelling the emotional quagmire – but also elevating the astounding human spirit and resilience displayed by the subjects of this film.”
Earlier this year, Del Naja was publicly arrested for protesting the UK Labor Party's support of the ongoing conflict; he was also arrested last April for a similar protest. However, he will be returning to the stage with his Massive Attack co-founder, Grant Marshall, in 2027 to headline Primavera Sound.
