Mannequin Pussy, the punk-infused indie rock band from Philadelphia, have had a lot of love from Netflix in recent weeks. At the end of March, the band performed live on Everybody's in L.A., comedian John Mulaney's weekly Netflix show. Mulaney had this to say about the band:
"You will hear music such that has never poured through your airwaves! That's right. There are many milestones in human culture. There's the invention of the printing press, the Armory Show Of 1913, and tonight we bring you the television debut of Mannequin Pussy. It's the best. It's the best. Mannequin Pussy plays loud rock music, and their name is fun to say. Our studio has been flooded with telegrams all week because of these youngsters and the excitement has reached all corners of the globe. We even received this wire today. I was very excited: 'Ahem, me and Michelle are watching along with the rest of the world. Long live Mannequin Pussy. Yours, Barack Obama.'"
Now the band has been name-dropped in Netflix's The Four Seasons, which features a star-studded cast including Tina Fey and Steve Carell. In one scene, Mannequin Pussy's EP Perfect is pulled from a duffel bag and shown to a group — though the band name proves a bit too much for Tina Fey's character, who quickly changes the subject.
