The main takeaways from Taylor Swift’s ‘New Heights’ podcast appearance

In a first for the billionaire pop star, Taylor Swift’s appearance on the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast spanned over 90 minutes of candid conversation between Swift, boyfriend Travis Kelce, and his older brother Jason Kelce. The trio covered a wide range of topics from Swift’s reclamation of her first six albums’s masters, her sourdough baking hobby, and Swift’s father’s time in the hospital.

Discussion of Swift’s newly announced twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl was the main attraction, so naturally it was not brought up until the podcast’s final minutes.

Significant takeaways regarding the record surrounded discussion of its production. Swift revealed she flew to Sweden to record with producers Max Martin and Shellback (who she last worked with on reputation) between shows during the back half of her record breaking Eras Tour. Their goal was to make a considered, succinct record, so there will be no extra or deluxe tracks in contrast to her last several releases.

The conceit of the record, as hinted at by the title, is about what happened in her life “behind the curtain” during the tour, delivered through what Swift explains as “melodies that are so infectious that you’re almost angry at it.”

There is currently no information on pre-release singles, or even if releasing such is part of the record’s rollout.
