For "Wake", the second single revealed off of her forthcoming third studio album Ace, singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham has teamed up with Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes.
Listen to the track below:
Cunningham describes "Wake" as “ a song about reflection," saying "[it's] about looking in the rearview mirror and seeing someone wasn’t right for you all along."
Cunningham and Pecknold met backstage at one of her shows. “Fleet Foxes' melodies and songs have inspired me for as long as I can remember. I feel quite lucky to have been able to experience his genius up close.”
Pecknold talks about working with Cunningham on the song:
“Working with Madison on this was a humbling and enlightening experience! We did maybe ten takes where she played and sang perfectly every time and I struggled to keep up. She’s a force and an inspiration, thank you so much Madison for pushing things forward so masterfully.”
Ace is comprised of 14 tracks that explore the highs and lows of falling out of love and learning to fall back in again. “You think you’re on the verge of true healing but something scares you,” Cunningham says of the album’s themes, “And you have to start all over.” You can preorder Ace here.
Last month she released lead single "My Full Name", and a live performance video, which you can watch below.
Cunningham will play Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles next month, on October 9th, and is also confirmed to appear at Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, which takes place on March 26-29 2026.
