Low's Alan Sparhawk announces new album with Trampled By Turtles, shares first song

Singer, songwriter, guitarist Alan Sparhawk (of Low) has announced a new collbroative album with bluegrass/folk group Trampled By Turtles. Simply titled With Trampled by Turtles, Sparhawk and co. will release the LP on May 30 via Sub Pop.

The first single "Stranger" has also been released, along with a video. Watch and listen below:

Sparhawk and his fellow Minnesotans recorded the album in late 2023, where Trampled By Turtles were nearly done with their own recording sessions. Sparhawk had several songs ready to bring to the table, including some that "had never worked in Low; others [that were] fresh and waiting."

The group had talked about making work together before, but the opportunity had never arisen properly until that time. Sparhawk says:

“When the opportunity seems right, you jump ... When playing together is that powerful an embrace, why stop there?"

This will be Sparhawk's second release since the end of his acclaimed indie rock band Low, which concluded when Sparhawk's longtime romantic and musical partner – the greatm Mimi Parker – sadly passed away after a battle with cancer. Sparhawk released his first solo album, White Roses, My God, last year with Sub Pop, wherein he experimented with brittle electronics and heavily processed vocals.
