Become a writer for The Needle Drop website!

We're looking for a dedicated group of writers to produce written content for TheNeedleDrop.com — read below to find our more and apply.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will join the writing team in our writer room (via Discord) to plan content, share stories, and coordinate with our editor to curate and post news stories.

The articles will be almost entirely based on breaking music news. This can include new album/single announcements, tour announcements, music beefs, death announcements, and other general news stories in the music industry. These will cross all genre lines and will not be limited to any one avenue of the industry.

It is important to note that you will not be writing reviews or features. At this point in time, we are only interested in news stories for the site.

Revenue Share:

Our content writers are paid a percentage of revenue generated from their articles as long as they maintain status within the network. Our writers are our partners and this structure allows our site to remain independently sustainable without outside investment influencing our writing.

To maintain writer status within the network, writers must publish at least two articles per month on the site to qualify for that month's revenue share. Writers are paid for revenue generated on all past articles they've written earned during the months they are eligible.

  • Earn 25% of programmatic ad revenue for each article written on any of the network's platforms.
  • Earn monthly bonuses based on word count contributed to the network, derived from a pool of direct advertising and subscription revenue.

Responsibilities:

  • Write at least two articles per month on breaking music news
  • Ability to craft clear, compelling, and impactful written content tailored to different music genres and communities
  • Ability to write with efficiency and style, within the site’s style guide
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent track record of meeting deadlines
  • A passion for the music and entertainment industry
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across multiple platforms within the network

To apply:

  • Send your resume and 2 writing samples (only one of which can be a review or feature — news stories are more desired at this point) // Published samples are preferred but not required // please provide links to these stories
  • Include a VERY brief (75-100 words or so) blurb expressing your interest in this position and why you’d be a good fit
  • Fill out the form below. We will contact you by email if you are a fit.
  • Only complete application packages will be considered
  • Thank you!
