Only a week after sweeping the 67th Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar just performed at the Super Bowl LIX Half-Time Show in New Orleans. The 22-time Grammy winner brought out Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate SZA, actor Samuel L. Jackson, producer Mustard, and tennis player Serena Williams at Caesars Superdome, performing several recent highlights, including “Not Like Us,” “squabble up,” and “tv off.”
Lamar notably performed songs exclusively from DAMN. and GNX, leaving out tracks from Section.80, good kid, m.A.A.d city, To Pimp a Butterfly, and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. He loaded up the setlist with the most popular tracks from GNX, many being their live debuts.
Samuel L. Jackson opened the show dressed as Uncle Sam referencing Gil Scott-Heron declaring, “the revolution will not to be televised, and you picked the wrong guy!” After that, Lamar began with the hyphy track “squabble up,” standing on top of a Buick GNX and was surrounded by a swath of dancers dressed monochromatically in reds, whites, and blues.

Next came “HUMBLE.,” from Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize winning album DAMN. K.Dot’s backup dancers sat around the rapper and resembled the American flag. Heading into another DAMN. highlight, Kendrick then performed “DNA.”

“euphoria,” best known as the second major diss track aimed at Drake in their 2024 beef followed, and then transitioned into the first live performance of “man at the garden” and “peekaboo.”
SZA joined K.Dot for two tracks dressed in red, including “luther” and the Black Panther single “All the Stars.” The TDE collaborators will head out across the United States and Canada on the Grand National Tour later this April, so this is likely the first taste of what fans can come to expect from their stadium tour.

After several teases, Lamar finally performed his Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” which just won five Grammys, including Record and Song of the Year. Though censored, Kendrick made a point to look into the camera during several incendiary remarks directly calling out Drake including the line “I hear you like ’em young.” Practically the entire stadium sang along to the infamous “a minor” line and the chanting chorus. The camera also panned over to tennis star Serena Williams, who Crip Walked atop a platform.
