Sleigh Bells have been quiet since the release of their 2021 EP, Texis. But today, the iconic noise-pop duo, consisting of Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller, have broken their silence with a surprise drop of their first new music in over three years: the raucous and unapologetically chaotic single, “Wanna Start a Band?”

Along with the new track, they also announced a 2025 tour. Listen to the track and check out the tour dates below:

“Wanna Start a Band?” captures the classic noise-rock, indie-pop hybrid sound fans know and love from Sleigh Bells, but with an intensity and mayhem taken to new heights. As Krauss explains in a press release, the track’s origins trace back to 2014:

In 2008 while eating at a restaurant in Brooklyn with my mom, our server, Derek, wasted very little time asking me, essentially, “Wanna start a band?” Hard to believe that almost 17 years later we are still hyped and obsessively making records together. Derek started messing with the riff for this song around 2014 — it needed a lot of work, but a spark was there. We had a band by then but didn’t know how long it would last. For us, this song is a reminder of how we started, but it’s also the first part of a new story we want to tell — more on that very soon! We hope you will come along for the ride!

Sophie Hunter will be joining the duo on tour, which kicks off on May 7 at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, AZ.
