Red Hot continue the build up to this Friday's release of their epic 46-song compilation TRANSA with a stunningly soulful cover of the late SOPHIE's "Is It Cold In The Water?" performed by Moses Sumney, featuring the unmistakable voice of ANOHNI.

Writing in a press release, ANOHNI describes the song as "SOPHIE's mistresspiece," adding that it was "such a blessing to have a chance to sing with Moses Sumney on his gorgeous rendition."

"I have loved the Red Hot compilations since before I started making music," she adds, saying that 2009's Dark Was The Night "defined an era" of her youth. "It means a lot to be able to finally pay tribute to SOPHIE, whom I met early in our careers, and it's an honor to contribute to a cause so near and dear to my heart. Trans rights!"

Speaking to the purpose of TRANSA in celebrating trans lives at a time of great uncertainty and peril, she says:

"Our bodies have been used and weaponized in malevolent ways by people who wish the worst for us. That malevolence is an unwellness that is affecting all living things now. Many spirits across the planet are experiencing this same siege of stress, loathing and bullying. One of the greatest indications of a society’s psychic health is reflected in the way that each family holds its LGBTQI children. I pray for the safety and health of trans kids in the US and around the world in years to come. Dear Ones, know that treasured friends and beloved chosen family already wait for you in your future, if you can just hold on until you reach them."

Other tracks released from TRANSA so far include Sade Adu's "Young Lion", L'Rain's "People Are Small / Rapture", Julien Baker and Calvin Lauber's "Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying", Teddy Geiger and Yaeji's "Pink Ponies", André 3000's 26-minute flute piece "Something Is Happening And I May Not Fully Understand..." and a reworking of TRANSA ambassador Beverly Glenn-Copeland's classic "Ever New" featuring Sam Smith.
