Liquid Death and Spotify have teamed up to unveil something they’re calling the Eternal Playlist Urn, and, somehow, it’s exactly what it sounds like.
An urn. For your ashes. With a Bluetooth speaker built in, so you can soundtrack your own eternity.
According to the press spiel, this is a “new category of product” designed to treat music as entertainment “for more than just the living” and to “redefine the afterlife experience.” Which is a beautifully poetic way of saying: yes, you can now haunt the great beyond with your favorite playlist on loop.
Of course, eternal vibes don’t come cheap. The Eternal Playlist Urn will set you back $495 and is available in limited quantities through Liquid Death’s website. It measures roughly seven inches wide and long, stands about eleven inches tall, and weighs in at 2.4 pounds, compact enough for a mantelpiece, ominous enough for a conversation starter. It charges via USB-C, meaning if you truly plan to keep the party going past the veil, someone on this side is going to have to keep it plugged in.
Spotify is also rolling out an Eternal Playlist Generator. Answer a prompt like “What’s your eternal vibe?” and it’ll spin up a bespoke playlist meant to “last a lifetime… and beyond.” You can share it with friends, sync it directly to the urn, and rest easy knowing your posthumous vibes on point.
It’s absurd, sure, but its also potentially brilliant. Eternity, apparently, runs on USB-C.
