New York electronic punk band Lip Critic announce their new album Theft World today, due out May 1st via Partisan Records.

With the announcement comes lead single "Legs In A Snare", accompanied by its Colter Fellows-directed music video. Watch below:

Theft World is a concept album inspired by frontman Bret Kaser getting his identity stolen, with the thief using his personal information to make hundreds of purchases, including buying the band’s entire discography on Bandcamp. When the band tracked down the scammer, they encountered the culprit: a young fan in a Five Nights At Freddy’s zip up who recited the stolen social security number and eagerly confessed, explaining that he believed the band’s music contained hidden codes forming an elaborate scavenger hunt he had successfully completed.

Rather than involving the police, they recorded him at a 24-hour halal spot as he enthusiastically described his imagined mythology. The universe the fan had described informed the word Lip Critic went on to actually create on Theft World.

Lip Critic is also going on tour this spring to promote the record, starting May 25th in Troy, NY, and making a final stop in Philadelphia on June 25th.
