Lily Allen is no stranger to confronting "The Fear" in her life. The pop singer's oeuvre includes multiple tunes about her body image anxieties, exes' sexual shortcomings (and conversely, at her happiest, longcomings), and comments-section creeps.
Most recently, her latest album, West End Girl, almost exactly one year ago became a runaway comeback hit that she's been touring ever since, and it's a candid autopsy of her marriage to David Harbour that she regretted opening.
However, the performances turned out to be a one-woman show of Allen performing West End Girl start to finish without addressing the audience or encoring with old hits, which has drawn some criticism after leading to bigger initial demand and booking larger venues. She tweeted “I don’t want anyone to feel ripped off, Everyone on this tour is really working very hard to give people the best show we possibly can, and I’m extremely proud of it.” But the word-of-mouth led to the tour scaling down from arenas to amphitheaters shortly after, as well as a canceled Montreal date.
In typical Allen fashion (literally), the downsized tour has inspired a Halloween costume she debuted on Instagram, wearing a sparsely sold Ticketmaster seating map and hashtagging the photo #bluedotfever. She's nothing if not self-deprecating; see the getup below.
