Liam Gallagher hits back at NME for leaking alleged Oasis ‘25 Tour line-up

In less than 4 months, Oasis will kick off their comeback tour, the first stop of which will be on July 4 in Cardiff. The reunited band had announced dates around the world, confirmed support acts in the likes of Cast, Richard Ashcroft, and Cage The Elephant, but which line-up would join Liam and Noel Gallagher on their long-awaited reunion tour was unknown, that is, supposedly, until now.

Today, March 12, NME published an article which has caused quite a stir, detailing the musicians who will reportedly accompany the Britpop outfit on their upcoming tour.

According to NME's sources, the line-up consists of bassist and guitarist Andy Bell and Gem Archer – both past members of Oasis from 1999 to 2009; Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs on guitar, who left the band on 1999 and has been on Liam’s side regularly throughout his solo career; and finally, the most surprising pick of the bunch: renowned American drummer Joey Waronker, who has played alongside legendary figures such as R.E.M, Johnny Cash, Paul McCartney, Roger Smith, and Elliot Smith. It’d be his first time as a member of Oasis, but not with Liam, as he played with him live in support of his collaborative album with John Squire in 2024.

NME says that the information has been obtained from “sources close to the band and tour,” so it should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially considering that Waronker is set to be on tour with Beck in July, coinciding with several Oasis dates.

Liam has responded to the leak in his usual manner, seemingly denying the news, and also feeling concerned about a possible “mole in the crew."

On X, the frontman suggested to NME that they reveal their sources in exchange for an exclusive interview. “NME tell me who your source pots are that keep giving you info about OASIS and I’ll give you an exclusive interview about up n coming OASIS tour you can have it all but how much do you want it LG x,” Liam wrote.

He then explained that he wasn’t particularly angry about the leak, but about “the line where it says a source close to the band and tour that really causes me a great deal of concern.”

His concern stems from the possibility that there is “a mole in the crew,” as he responds to a fan. Although according to one user the information has been leaking for some time, liam states that “That’s what broke OASIS up bfore.” He then concurs with another user who tells him, “It's just their journalist's hoping the mud will eventually stick.”

In a previous post, Liam claimed that he would reveal the actual line-up in a minute, and, you could certainly say that he did: “Tony Mc drums Alan white bass guitar Zak lead guitar Chris Sharrock keys,” the singer unveiled.

In case you hadn’t noticed, the four of them are familiar faces who previously played with the british ensemble. Also, they’re all drummers. This could be seen as a way to mock or dismiss the leaked info, or we can believe his words and expect a display of percussionists playing beyond their usual instrument.

After that, the Manchester-native continued to respond with quipping remarks that aren't shocking, coming from him – calling one user a “Countryicst” after dismissing Waronker for being american – leaving more doubt and confusion on the veracity of NME's alleged line-up, which perhaps, was his intention all along.
