As LCD Soundsystem fans prepare for their fifth studio album, fans have been afforded a new release from the Brooklyn-based rockers.
Eight months after the release of "X-Ray Eyes" and a series of dates to close out 2024, LCD Soundsystem is releasing a 12-inch single of their 2010 song "Home", with an edit done by W. H. Lung's Tom Sharkett.
Announcing the single with a post on social media, the release is officially up for pre-sale on the DFA Records website, with a breakdown of how the track came to the band's attention.
"It wasn’t really hiding, just sitting quietly online. But Tom Sharkett’s edit of "Home" was too good to ignore. Originally a bootleg we first heard played on Flo Dill’s Breakfast Show on NTS, it wormed its way into our hearts and never left. So we made it official. Sometimes the internet actually makes your life better."
Originally debuting as the closing track of This Is Happening, "Home" found new life with Sharkett's edit, with the song debuting in April on the NTS Radio Breakfast Show, and fans immediately ask3$ for an official release on social media.
While there's no timeline on when the vinyl record will ship, fans won't have to wait to hear the release, as LCD Soundsystem has officially released the track, plus an instrumental version, on YouTube and streaming platforms. LCD Soundsystem is finishing up a residency at the Brixton Academy before returning to the United States for a series of dates on the West Coast in August and September.
