A judge has dismissed the $1 billion lawsuit against 50 Cent by Cory Holland, who claimed the TV series Power was based on his life. The lawsuit, filed three years ago, was thrown out on Aug. 1 by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The court ruled that Holland failed to establish personal jurisdiction or state a claim, noting that the similarities between Holland's life and Power were too general. An additional $30 million lawsuit by Holland, alleging that 50 Cent made threatening statements, was also dismissed.

Holland initially sued 50 Cent, Lions Gate Films, and the show's creator, Courtney A. Kemp, in May 2021, accusing them of using his life story without permission.

This marks the second lawsuit 50 Cent has won over Power. In 2015, Larry Johnson sued for $200 million, claiming his manuscript, Tribulation of a Ghetto Kid, was the basis for the series. That case was dismissed in 2017.
