Bizarro-world Rush Primus have reached the end of their Onward & Upward Tour, featuring new drummer John "Hoffer" Hoffman. At the Greek Theatre on August 6, the band welcomed a litany of special guests.
Half of Tool – drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor – guested on "My Name Is Mud" and "Too Many Puppies", respectively. In addition, a pair of curveballs from the world of comedy added to the fun: Bill Burr, who played additional drums on "Puppies", and South Park co-creator Matt Stone, who took up co-drums on a cover of King Crimson's "Thela Hun Ginjeet".
Opening acts Ty Segall and MonoNeon also joined the band at various points during the evening. Segall added some juice to a cover of Black Sabbath's "N.I.B.", while MonoNeon souped up closing number "Southbound Pachyderm". A fan-shot highlight reel of the concert can be viewed below.
Primus will bring the tour to a close in Sacramento this weekend. Get tickets here.
