Kraftwerk co-founder Florian Schneider's possessions heading to auction

Florian Schneider, co-founder of über-innovators Kraftwerk, passed away in 2020. Now, Julien's Auctions are disseminating his musical gear, and lots more, in accordance with his wishes.

"[Schneider] always believed that [instruments] are meant to be played and shared — not left unused or gathering dust in storage. He wanted his equipment to find their way to people who would truly value them," a press release reads in part.

The auction, to take place in Nashville on November 19th, consists of almost 500 items, and we're not just talking music. Among the outliers: a bicycle, ridden by Schneider in the "Tour de France (Klang Klang Analog Mix)" music video, and a '64 Volkswagen Type 2 van.

Highlights from the musical gear include Kling Klang vocoders, essential to Kraftwerk's sound, and a variety of synthesizers. Personally, I'd spring for the EMS Synthi, a key ingredient to the magic of Kraftwerk's 1974 album Autobahn.

You can check out all of the lots here, and remote bidding will be possible if you can't make it to Tennessee.
