Kim Gordon wants you to talk "Dirty Tech" to her

Dan Weiss

Sonic Youth's legendary co-frontwoman and bassist Kim Gordon has spent the 2020s enjoying a solo career that combines her predilection for speak-singing over noisy textures with more up-to-date sounds. For instance, 2024's "Bye Bye" was famously built around a trap beat her producer/collaborator Justin Raisen first tried to offer Playboi Carti.

So it's interesting that her new single, "Dirty Tech", the second from her upcoming third solo album Play Me, blasts the state of modern technology. But it's also probably inevitable that the icon wasn't going to take kindly to AI or tech bros.

Cavorting around an empty office space in the video, she sings "talk dirty tech to me" on the chorus. It's also fair to assume that no other 72-year-old alt-rock veteran is embracing new sounds like this that are so associated with much younger trends.

Watch the video for "Dirty Tech" below, and catch Play Me when it comes out March 13th.
